Dougherty Laser Vision Partnering with Conejo Free Clinic
Sub Title
Dougherty Laser Vision is proud to announce our partnership with the Conejo Free Clinic in Thousand Oaks. Our team will provide pro bono essential eye care to destitute patients referred by the Conejo Free Clinic.
This partnership is through the Andrew Dougherty Vision Foundation, a charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for people in the United States and around the world. The Andrew Dougherty Vision Foundation provides pro bono vision correction surgeries to those in need, primarily in impoverished, disaster struck, and war-torn areas.
The organization also provides local surgeons in those areas with training in the most up-to-date cataract and refractive surgery techniques so they may carry on the organization’s mission in their local communities. The Andrew Dougherty Vision Foundation is a California registered 501c3 charitable organization.
About the Conejo Free Clinic
The Conejo Free Clinic has been serving Ventura County and the surrounding areas for 34 years. The Conejo Free Clinic’s Medical Services Program currently serves 6,000+ patients each year with physician and nurse care, lab testing, imaging, prescriptions, referrals and follow-up, all without charge.
Some of the patients literally haven’t seen a doctor in years. In the past two years, the Conejo Free Clinic have experienced a 90% increase in total patient volume and the critical need for services.
Over 400 three-hour clinics are staffed by an extraordinary all-volunteer medical team of 90+ doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, medical assistants and support staff. The team consists of top professionals who have true generosity, compassion and desire to give back to a part of a community that is deeply suffering from the lack of medical care access.
The Conejo Free Clinic and its rare medical model could not exist without an amazing volunteer team and community support.
The Conejo Free Clinic serves the residents of Ventura County predominantly, but patients also come from parts of the adjacent northern Los Angeles County/San Fernando Valley. Conejo provides care for individuals and families who do not have health insurance, do not qualify for a public assistance, and/or have such high insurance deductibles that they dangerously postpone crucial doctor appointments and diagnostic tests, often until it’s too late.
Conejo Free Clinic patients include the poor and working poor, but it is important to note that patient needs encompass all income levels. Some are suffering from the crushing effects of an uncertain economy, job/insurance loss and/or financial reversal for the first time in their lives. The Conejo Free Clinic Medical Services Program works to find solutions for all.
