LENSAR Robotic Cataract Laser Surgery

If you’ve ever invested in a high-quality tool, you understand how it can elevate your work.

Ophthalmology is no different and at DLV Vision we regularly invest in new technologies which help our team perform surgeries with even greater accuracy.

The LENSAR® Laser System is the latest addition to our clinic. This exciting technology allows your doctor to perform some of the early steps in cataract surgery with literal laser precision, typically leading to improved results and a gentler surgical experience for the patient.

What Are the Benefits of the LENSAR® Laser?

The LENSAR® Laser System is designed to make the process of cataract surgery even smoother for patients that to these important benefits:

It’s More Accurate: One of the first steps in cataract surgery is creating a circular opening in the lens capsule. The LENSAR® laser can create this opening with great accuracy in size and shape, and can even center it precisely based on your eye’s measurements. This accuracy is important for the proper positioning of the new lens and can lead to more predictable vision after surgery.

Gentler on Your Eye: Traditional cataract surgery uses ultrasound to break up the cloudy lens. The LENSAR® laser can help to soften the cataract before this step, which means your doctor may need to use less ultrasound energy during the surgery for a gentler experience.

Precise Corneal Incisions: The laser can also create the small openings needed on the cornea during cataract surgery. These laser-created incisions are designed to have a precise structure, which can help them seal better after surgery.

Helps with Astigmatism Correction: If you have corneal astigmatism, the LENSAR® system can also help your surgeon create arcuate incisions on the cornea to help correct it. The system can even adjust these incisions based on real-time images of your eye, making the correction more accurate.

Less Movement During Surgery: The LENSAR® system uses a gentle, low-pressure method to hold your eye steady during the laser part of the procedure. This helps to keep your eye stable, which is important for the accuracy of the laser treatment.

Augmented Realityâ„¢: This advanced imaging technique is used to get a detailed, 3D picture of the inside of your eye which helps the surgeon to plan and perform the surgery.
